Iron Man leads off S.H.I.E.L.D. story

The Iron Man film released only a small about of information about the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. They introduced it as a government agency and Agent Phil Coulson contiously atempts to debrief  Tony Stark about his escape from Afghanistan. The last piece of information on the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division that this film has to offer is that they need a shorter name and agent Coulson demands to be "Just S.H.I.E.L.D.". This fim does not offer a lot of information about the upcoming Superhero movies,  however, they set up one of the most potentially brilliant schemes that Jack Kirby and Stan Lee ever wrote together. By tying all of the Superheroes together with S.H.I.E.L.D. Lee and Kirby have created a huge intertwined web of stories. Hopefully, with the new movies soon to be in theathers Lee and Kirby will be able to finish the story in a perfect circle.

Iron Man 2

In the film Iron Man 2 Tony Stark's company was infiltrated by S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). They later debrief Tony of their actions and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) informs Tony that his father was a founding membef of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tony is given a box of his father's films that were made to instruct Tony on how to create a new more powerful reactor core. Among the videos and charts in this box is a shield that bears a very close resemblance to Captain America's shield.
